Details of PSU Entrance Exams in India 2016
Several leading Public Sector Enterprises (PSUs) use GATE scores of engineering candidates for recruiting them for their entry level positions in the various fields. With a good GATE score, a candidate can gain entry into many leading PSUs of their choice. However, certain PSUs conduct their entrance examinations to recruit young engineers in the entry level positions.
Here is a short list of entrance examinations conducted by few important PSUs and their relevant exam pattern details.
DRDO PSU Entrance Exams 2016:
Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO) is premier Research and Development organizations functioning under the Department of Defence Research and Development of Ministry of Defence.
DRDO conducts Scientist Entry Test (SET) for BE/BTech students specializing in Chemical, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical Engineering to gain entry into the class-I officer post of the organization. DRDO SET is an all India entrance test and is usually conducted on the first Sunday of the September month every year.
DRDO Eligibility and Exam pattern:
The candidates wishing to appear for DRDO SET exam must have secured first class (60 %) in their respective engineering streams and must be under 28 years of age.
The exam duration is 3 hours and comprises of two sections
- Section A: Subject knowledge in BE/BTech disciplines
- Section B: Aptitude test relating to Applied Research & Development.
The entrance test consists of a total of 150 objective type questions and has a total of 500 marks. Section- A comprises of 100 questions with four marks allotted for each question. The questions are asked from the BE/BTech subjects relating to the particular discipline. Section B consists of 50 questions for a total of 100 marks and the topics covered in the section include
- Logical Reasoning
- Spatial Reasoning
- Concept Formation
- Abstract Reasoning, and
- Numerical Reasoning.
ISRO PSU Entrance Exams 2016:
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is one of the eminent space research organizations’ that is principally involved in the development of space technology of the country and attracts best minds in the science field to work for developing indigenous space technologies.
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) conducts the entrance exam for admitting suitable candidates in its Bachelor of Technology courses like Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering.
ISRO PSU Entrance Exam Pattern
The exam has two parts comprising objective type questions from the three subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The aspirants must secure a minimum of 60% marks in the entrance test and the subsequent personal interview process to qualify for final selection.
ONGC PSU Entrance Exams 2016:
The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is a leading public sector undertaking listed in the Maharathna Category involved in the oil and gas exploration and production contributing around 70% of the country’s crude oil requirements. The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) conducts the recruitment exam for the post of the Graduate Trainees every year, and it will be held in the month June 3 rd week this year.
The exam comprises of written test on objective type questions for 150 marks conducted in following three sections namely
- Specialized subject
- General Awareness
- Aptitude test
